Angvastra or as it is called by other names in different parts of the country, has increasingly become essential to ethnic outfits. In our culture, Angvastra is offered as a mark of respect and devotion for the elders, guests, Gurus and the revered Gods. It is an ideal way to welcome and greet. Angvastra draped over the shoulders is a profound statement of one's personality. This Angvastra is made of 100% pure Reeled Silk which is acclaimed as the most lustrous and smooth fabric in the world. As an ethnic accessory, Angvastra has a global appeal and not just confined to a certain ethnicity, sect or region.
This Assamese Eri Silk Angvastra is a tradition in the entire north east region particularly in the state of Assam. It is distinguished by its soft texture embellished with typical red thread work. Eri Slik is one of the most durable fibers. Unlike other Silk, Eri does not require killing of the Silk worm and hence, it is called Ahimsa silk or peace silk.
